California's Fourteeners: A Hiking and Climbing Guide
Published in Paperback by Palisades Press (01 October, 1991)
Authors: Stephen S. Porcella, Cameron M. Burns, Stephen F. Porcella, and Cameron M. Burns
Average review score:

Fourteeners Book
Simply an incredible book. I will never look at California's fourteeners the same way again. The daring ascents, so beautifully mapped and photographed, make for a rock-climber's delight. The lush mountain photography is only one bettered by the incisive and informative route descriptions. Having lived in California for many years, I thought that I knew these peaks well. Not so in the wake of this small gem. I recommend this book for novice and expert alike.

The Cambridge Ancient History: Volume 14, Late Antiquity: Empire and Successors, AD 425-600
Published in Hardcover by Cambridge University Press (April, 2001)
Authors: Averil Cameron, Bryan Ward-Perkins, and Michael Whitby
Average review score:

A very good, up-to-date overview
This was a very readable book, that I have just completed. I read about eighty percent of it, only skipping or skimmimg a few sections. Admittedly, this would not make a good introductory book, and probably not even a good second book, on the period, but if you are interested in the period and have a working knowledge of it, I am sure you will find much of interest. The book begins with an evocative 150 pages or so of narrative historical overview, with the latest interpretations of chronology. Some of this material is then covered in a more thematic way, and also in an area-by-area manner, later in the book. There are also many sections on various social aspects. One such that I gained much from was the one on education. Interestingly, there was no separate section on women. The bibliography is 100 pages long, so the reading matter itself is about 1000 pages. The book was worth the money to me.

Cameron's Closet
Published in Paperback by Fawcett Books (October, 1987)
Author: Gary Brandner
Average review score:

Great read from "The Godfather of Horror".
Gary Brandner is "The Godfather" of the modern horror novel in my opinion. Along with Stephen King, he helped launch the horror boom of the late 70's/early 80's with his classic THE HOWLING. It was also the first adult horror novel I ever read and it ignited my passion for the genre that continues to this day. (It's more like an obsession, really.) CAMERON'S CLOSET is one of my favorites. A series of bizarre and grotesque murders occur around a young boy. A detective and child psychologist feel there is some connection to the boy's "invisible friend" in his closet and some experiments the boy's father performed on him to nurture some latent psychic ability. But before they can exorcise the boy's personal demons, a beast is unleashed beyond the control of the boy and it's hunger is insatiable... Brandner's writing is clear, concise, and very compelling. He has keen sense of how to tell a good story and he knows what readers want from a horror novel. One of his best and highly recommended.

Cameron's Landing
Published in Paperback by Dell Publishing (01 May, 1979)
Author: Ann Stuart
Average review score:

Absolutely stunning story.
Gripping and provocative mystery of successful Maine shipping family during the late nineteenth century, Cameron's Landing focuses on Lorna, the new governess and amateur sleuth. Story is fast paced, engrossing, and moves to love story type ending for Lorna and Alex, the youngest Cameron heir. Cameron's Landing could be cited as Anne's best and is a must for faithful Anne Stuart fans. If you can't locate a copy, try the auctions.

For this reason among others, this work details the Chiefs and their family from the fifteenth century through the present day. In addition, Stewart focuses on the many "tribes" and "septs" of the Camerons, those who either adopted the surname of Cameron or who followed the various Lochiels throughout the years. Coat of arms, tartans, poetry, music, Cameron "place names," and a listing of historically "famous" Camerons are also included, with twenty-five photographic plates of historical relevance.

Within the pages of this work, which is endorsed by both Colonel Sir Donald Hamish Cameron of Lochiel
